Mr. Asrizal is going to be our lecturer for Ux design. In his introduction, he mentioned that the students this semester would be working alongside a company named PIXLR. Which is basically like Canva where it edits pictures and images. The project will start in week 3, and at that time we will start to 'work' at industry speed. We will learn the skills and experience on how it is working for the first time.

Mr. Asrizal mentioned that like many things, a lot of the problems we face would require us to solve it. He advised us to search up some terms such as, "User Journey map" and "UX design sprint" in order to familiarize ourselves. A user journey map is basically an expected user's experience using the application from start to end. A "ux design sprint" is a 5-day plan to create a ux design. It is compiled in, mapping, sketching, deciding, prototyping and testing.

When I was searching about UX design, I realized that a good analogy would be like eating cereal. Many people think that UX design is the end product of how the cereal taste, the depth and width of the spoon, the bowl. But a UX designers job is to change the spoon, the bowl and the cereal to make the end product better.

Week: 3 Summary

Pixlr x and Pixlr e, the product might be a bit outdated against other competitors, compared to Canva.

Task:
create a user persona, customer journey map (based on Pixlr x and e) you can interview people that use Pixlr to learn their experience from start to finish.

and compare it to other competitors, to create a competitor analysis.

Search up on opposite and parallel segments, this is to understand what the opposite segment will say, this can result in understanding our primary segment.

get to interview different user groups, around 5 to 6 different audiences, (you can also ask about pricing.)

persona no.1 - students
persona no.2 - ngo
persona no.3 - small business owners
opposite segments - design agency

when creating a persona, it is good to divide in attitudes, such as value seeker, or comfort seeker, or professions.

Week 5: Summary

We were assigned to research these topics in their relevancy with Pixlr, Retention, Acquisition, Revenue and Product Trends/content and features. See the community how other competitors communicate with their audience.
search up features trends, template posters, invitations. Why are they trending.

Feedback:
Retention rates, right now compare it to the direct competitor basically Canva and list down what conclusion you drew from this information.

For revenue identify the difference between premium users and normal users.

Double-check if the data is correct on product trends, and find where is Canva. If cannot find the list make one from the revenue section.

look at both our features and the competitors' features. Then compare it to our direct competitor. (basically, a huge let's do better than they do)

For community make it easier to present ie. do it in point forms, and see how does Canva talks to their customers, like if there is a private channel or website or if they just use for example Reddit or whatnot.

Week 7: Summary
Ideate features and solutions that can help Pixlr,

5 features:
  • Template grids, drag and drop snap
  • Styles palette (changes the font, and colour corrects.)
  • Include text animation and exporting as mp4
  • Text focused editing templates
  • When exporting under social media templates, it could directly be shared onto said platform
UIUX suggestion
Put the editing templates on top
The name is confusing between E and X

Marketing strategy:
  • Search engine optimization
  • Ads on Instagram
  • Paid ads on google searches
Feedback:
The wireframe is poor in quality if possible, amend it and add a small piece of text to indicate its purpose. Add more information that can directly help Pixlr by SEO. The Pixlr logo shouldn't be stretched in any way on the ads.

Prototype:
Now we have to create prototypes of the features mentioned above.
